BTH ’86 brings international badminton to Halle

The Halse badminton club BTH ’86 and marketing agency Castaar from Kester will join forces for the next three seasons to organize the Castaar International, an international badminton tournament that aims to put Halle on the map as a real badminton city.

Castaar will support the next three editions of the tournament as a name sponsor. Christophe Dedoncker’s marketing agency also designed the tournament logo in which the contours of the Halse basilica can be recognized. Sponsor responsible and club secretary Kevin Van Cutsem: “As a club we are extremely satisfied with this partnership. It allows us to take steps forward again and to guarantee the growth of the tournament. We aim for the presence of the Belgian top and the participation of players from neighboring countries.”

In recent seasons, the Halse badminton club could count on the support of the Lembeek start-up brewery ‘Crystalstick’, but they had a hard time due to the prevailing pandemic. Whether the tournament will continue in 2022? “We will do everything we can to make the tournament take place. The current measures still allow this and many players from the Belgian elite series have indicated that they are looking forward to it.” says Kevin.

Badminton in Belgium still has enormous growth potential, but cannot close the gap with the top in Europe because, among other things, the funds are missing. That is why the club from Halle hopes to receive support from the city in the long term. The tournament generates a lot of bookings in hotels in and around Halle and attracts more than 300 players in just one weekend.
