Basketball – Piraeus leads Bayern in the Euroleague – Sport

FC Bayern’s basketball players have suffered a defeat after five consecutive wins across all competitions. At 60:83 it turned out to be quite hearty, in phases the Munich team were presented by Olympiacos Piraeus.

Ognjen Jaramaz earned special praise from coach Andrea Trinchieri in his recent successes against Euroleague champion Efes Istanbul and in the Bundesliga at Alba Berlin. In the Greek port city, too, it was the Serbian international who set the first accents for the guests with two successful three-pointers – however, Olympiacos had already scored 15 points at this point. The Greeks, unbeaten at home, were clearly superior from the first second, it looked as if the Munich team had used all their strength in their recent successes. Which, of course, was also due to the enormously aggressive defense of the Greeks, who attacked Bayern with every throw, with every action. And if Bayern had good chances, they didn’t score. Piraeus was 26:10 ahead after the first quarter, at break they had almost decided the game at 49:24, especially since the guests never gave the impression that they could turn the game around even after the change.

So Trinchieri distributed the minutes in the second half, from which the newly signed KC Rivers also benefited and scored five points in his first outing for FCB. Only Augustine Rubit was able to score double-digit points for Munich with ten points, and so Bayern stumbled into the hearty rubble with no chance. Already on Thursday the Munich get the chance to make amends, but then the hosts Red Star Belgrade, who are also strong at home, need a huge increase in performance.
