Basketball: Frontignan La Peyrade hopes to be able to confirm in Provence

Kareem Nedellec’s men are traveling to Rousset this Saturday, December 4 (8 p.m.).

For this penultimate day “to go”, the FLPB goes to the archers, this is what their Roussetian counterparts are called. At the foot of the Sainte-Victoire mountain, not far from Aix, it is in a new gymnasium that the Ail de Rousset is rife.

Plant or not?

The name of the club has really nothing to do with the perennial vegetable plant often proclaimed good for health and which, incidentally, contributes to the culinary reputation of the rouille à la Sétoise. In Rousset, the Association des Amis de l’Instruction Laïque (AIL) is a real institution of which basketball is a part.

The presentations made, it is to be expected that the trip will be difficult. The success on Cabriès, although it was contested until the end, gave new envy and confidence. Aware of its potential, the group has the opportunity to pass in the good half of the classification.

At the foot of a wall

If Mosson Basket won at Rousset, it was only by a small point difference. This shows the quality of the opponent, he was the one who gave the leader the most trouble, the only undefeated in the pool. Defeated in Montélimar on the previous day, the Provençaux are tied on points with the Frontignanais. It is a team with strong defensive potential, by far the best bulwark of the pool (only 605 points conceded in nine games).

Larger workforce

For this meeting, Kareem Nedellec finds a workforce much more in line with that of the start of the season, Clément Hazebroucq is back, the big boys are there as are the means to vary the game. The success on Cabriès has however further highlighted some shortcomings, especially in concentration.

At Rousset, the key to the match certainly lies in the ability to contain a formation that will want to celebrate Christmas in front of its opponent of the day in the standings. It’s up to the FLPB to remember the adage: “A caress of garlic invigorates, excess lulls” …
