The Sevillian center-back is out of the call for this Saturday’s game against Lens due to muscle fatigue, according to the Parisian club

With the departure of Neymar already announced and with Sergio Ramos absent again “due to muscle fatigue”, Paris Saint-Germain has a complicated trip to Lens this Saturday to play against a team that is fighting for the European places (fifth place) and in one of the hottest courses in France.

Following Sergio Ramos’ promising debut last weekend, in a 3-1 win over Saint Etienne, Parisian coach Mauricio Pochettino hoped to win on balance for a team that has so far been weak on defense. The 15 goals conceded by the Parisians is the worst figure among the first four classified teams in Ligue 1: Marseille and Nice have received 12 and Rennes 14.

But the former Real Madrid captain, who in Saint Etienne played his first game in six months, was already absent against Nice on Wednesday in the week-long match (0-0) and will be so in Lens.

“His workload was adapted for muscle fatigue after returning to competition,” said PSG in a statement on Friday, adding that “he will resume training with the group on Sunday” in view of Tuesday’s match against Bruges, in the last day of the group stage of the Champions League.

Lens are one of the most popular clubs in northern France and have only lost one league match at home. At the time of starting the match, in addition, PSG could have more pressure from Marseille, which will start the day by hosting Brest and in case of victory it would be nine points behind the Parisians, with one game less.

After a bad run of results since the end of September, the team led by Jorge Sampaoli has added six points in the last two games, becoming the leader’s main pursuer.
