He had debuted in 2014 in the highest category with the Atlético Rafaela shirt, and in that same year he scored a goal against River at the Nuevo Monumental, in a match for date 13 of the Transition Tournament.
Montiel started in Independiente de Santo Tome, and from there he went to the youth divisions of Atlético de Rafaela, a club with which he made his debut in Primera. He played 33 games in the First Division, with one goal scored, the one mentioned against River, in what was his first match as a starter with the Crema jacket.
Later he was transferred to Juventud Unida de Gualeguaychú, with whom he played the First National tournament. There he participated in eleven games and scored a goal, against Deportivo Morón. After that loan, he returned to Rafaela, but with fewer appearances, and then went on to play the Federal Regional Amateur for Bragado FC.
