First game from Embark Studios, ARC Raiders will be a third person shooter, emphasizing teamwork. The game will be free-to-play available in 2022 on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X / S.
Unveiled during the Game Awards, ARC Raiders was developed by a team made up of big names in the industry, including some former Dice developers who had worked on Battlefield and Star Wars: Battlefront. The studio is run by Patrick Söderlund, previously responsible for overseeing game production at EA.
The first glimpse of the game portrays its retro-futuristic aesthetic. We see squads of players coming together to face huge robotic creatures.
The developers insist on the importance of teamwork. They specify that to survive in this world, it will be essential to loot our enemies and harvest resources directly in our environment. We can also see that it is possible to play with physics using our grappling hook in various ways and doing huge jumps thanks to mechanisms placed on the ground.
“We started Embark Studios three years ago with a blank canvas and big ideas. Today, this canvas is much less white and these ideas are becoming reality, ”Söderlund says in a press release. “With this announcement we want to celebrate the gameplay and give players more than just a glimpse of what ARC Raiders looks like. For a co-op action game like ARC Raiders, that’s what matters most. We look forward to sharing more about the game in the coming months ”.
