️???? Henri Leconte: “If we don’t change, our sport will die” – Exchange

The podcast Echange has been added to your home screen.

The first time I saw him I was five years old. It was in front of my television and I did not understand the scope of the feat that was being written before my eyes. I’m just happy, we won … the Davis Cup in Lyon against the United States of Andre Agassi and Pete Sampras. It was in 1991.

It was later that I realized that it was one of the greatest exploits of French sport. And in the midst of this sheer madness, a man: Henri Leconte.

There is the outcome of course, but there is also the manner, the most important being what happens around it. His return from hell, his crazy trajectory, his rants, his regrets, he did not have a career like the others. Between his memories 30 years after this victory and his vision of current tennis, he tells us everything.

Here is Henri Leconte, the brilliant left-hander, Riton, for close friends. As we like it, unfiltered, whole. Thank you for his generosity of the moment.

My name is Antoine Benneteau, welcome to Exchange.

And good listening.
