Yannick Souvré decorated by Emmanuel Macron

Yannick Souvré, captain of the French women’s team, European champion 2001 and current Director of the High Level of Clubs (LFB, LF2, NM1), received, Monday evening at the Élysée, from the hands of Emmanuel Macron, the insignia of an officer of the Legion of Honor.

The former international (243 selections) was surrounded by her relatives but she had also invited members of the basketball “family”: Jean-Pierre Siutat (President of the French Federation), Carole Force (President of the Women’s League), Pierre Fosset (former President of Bourges where she played from 1993 to 2003) and Alain Jardel (the coach of her beginnings at Mirande then with the Bleues).

Named Knight of the Legion of Honor in June 2005, Yannick Souvré was promoted to the rank of officer in July 2019 but had not received his badge.

The former basketball player is not the only sports figure to have been decorated on Monday. Three of the football were: Philippe Tournon (ex-press chief of the French team), Mohamed Sanhadji (security officer of the Blues) and Jacques-Henri Eyraud (former President of the Olympique de Marseille).
