window 1 of the 2023 World Cup qualifiers for the Africa Bamako Mali zone

On behalf of the 2023 Basketball World Cup qualifiers, Mali passed the first window with two wins in three games in the Africa zone.

From November 26 to 28, the first window of qualifiers for the 2023 Basketball World Cup took place. For the Africa zone, which was played in Angola, the Eagles of Mali made their entry into the running in Group A with a victory (76-66) against Uganda before losing in extremis (72-70) in their second outing against Nigeria. It was during the 3rd round against the Cape Verdeans that Ibrahima Djombo’s men fulfilled the contract by beating the blue sharks (64-58).

The second window is scheduled for February 2022. At the end of these phases, the five best African teams out of the sixteen entered will represent the continent during the final phase which will take place in three Asian countries (Japan, the Philippines and Indonesia) from August 25 to September 10, 2023.
