Wimbledon triumph of the tennis legend is being made into a film

The German tennis legend Boris Becker sensationally won Wimbledon in 1985 – as the youngest winner. Now his Grand Slam success will be filmed and seen on television in December.

The surprising triumph of tennis legend Boris Becker in 1985 at Wimbledon comes as a feature film on television. On December 16, RTL will broadcast “The Rebel – From Leimen to Wimbledon” at 8:15 pm, which will retold the “phenomenal success story of the youngest Wimbledon winner” in history, the broadcaster wrote in a message. Boris Becker was only 17 years old when he won the legendary Grand Slam tournament.

The film shows the “uncompromising nature of professional sport, the tough fight to the top” and gives “insights into the psyche and life of a boy who becomes a tennis idol at an early age and has to deal with sudden fame”.

The basis is the book “I am a player: The life of Boris Becker” by Fred Sellin. Actor Bruno Alexander will appear as Boris Becker. Born in Hamburg, he is 22 years old, has already played in “Tatort” and “In allerfreund” and can be seen in the series “Wir Kinder vom Bahnhof Zoo”.
