Wigner wins two Dragons in first round of IIHF Champions League final

Latvian hockey player Rolands Vīgners scored two goals in the first game of the International Hockey Federation’s (IIHF) Champions League quarter-finals on Wednesday, helping Rwanda’s “Dragons” to win.

The Ragans’ Dragons beat Salzburg’s Red Bull 3: 0 (0: 0, 1: 0, 2: 0).

Wigner scored the first goal from the front of the goal after a precise pass from a teammate, but he scored the second goal after successfully taking the puck from the opponent near the goal and sending the puck into the goal after a thunderstorm.

Wiegner spent 14 minutes and 51 seconds on the ice, during which he threw three times into the opponents’ goal, won in one throw and accumulated an efficiency of +2.

It has already been reported that on Tuesday, the Lakers, represented by Latvian goalkeeper Jānis Kalniņš, played a draw against Tappara in Tampere at home, finishing the match 2: 2.

The winners of the Champions League round of 16 are determined by the sum of two games. The answer games are scheduled for November 23rd and 24th.

The unit represented by Kalniņš will play the second match on November 23, but Wiegner’s team a day later.

The tournament was not played due to the Covid-19 pandemic in the 2020/2021 season.
