Turning to John Wall? Ex-All-Star wants to play for the Houston Rockets again

John Wall and the Houston Rockets agreed ahead of the season that the Guard would not be used this season. But now the 31-year-old wants to intervene again.

This is what Adrian Wojnarowski reports from ESPN. Originally, Wall and the Rockets had agreed that the point guard would not be used until Houston found a trade for the former All-Star. Now Wall has changed his mind and spoke to General Manager Rafael Stone to emphasize his desire for season.

The Rockets are currently in a rebuild (balance: 3-16) and could definitely use a competent playmaker, after all, no team throws the ball away more often than the young Rockets. According to Woj, there could be a compromise so that the young Guards like Kevin Porter Jr. or No. 2-Pick Jalen Green still get enough playing time, but Wall can also present themselves.

The five-time all-star will collect 91 million dollars by 2023, so far there should be no interested parties in a trade, mainly due to this horrific sum. A buyout is also out of the question for both sides.

Wall came to Houston in 2020 as part of Russell Westbrook’s trade. The previous year, the playmaker had to miss a full season with an Achilles tendon injury. In 2020/21 Wall completed 40 games for the Rockets, in which he set up an average of 20.6 points and 6.9 assists. Towards the end of the season, the 31-year-old was taken out of play to take care of his body.
