Dominic Thiem has received his first vaccination against the coronavirus. Most recently, his vaccination status became a political issue.
Around the Erste Bank Open in Vienna, Dominic Thiem became the focus of top Austrian politics. As an unvaccinated Austrian tennis superstar was not allowed into the Wiener Stadthalle and the arena on the Heumarkt. Health Minister Wolfgang Mückstein and SPÖ leader Pamela Rendi-Wagner offered the Lichtenwörther an educational talk to persuade him to vaccinate.
Now the 28-year-old is going on the offensive, revealing in a post that he has now been vaccinated. He is annoyed about the discussions about himself.
Thiem has recovered from his wrist injury, which has put him out of action since summer, and will celebrate his comeback in mid-December. He has to be vaccinated for the exhibition tournament in Abu Dhabi. Vaccination against the coronavirus is also mandatory at the next highlight, the Australian Open in January.
