Thibaut Courtois implies that he suffers the consequences of his remarks on FIFA

Thibaut Courtois is not used to keeping his tongue in his pocket. It doesn’t matter who he finds himself in front of. This is how the Real Madrid player publicly attacked FIFA and UEFA in mid-October and now thinks he is suffering the consequences.

His media release had been noticed, considering that the two institutions did not really care about the well-being of the players but only “their pockets”.

This is just a game for money, you have to be honest. We played this game because for UEFA it’s extra money. […] Next year we have a World Cup in November and we have to play again until the end of June. We are going to get hurt! No one cares about the players anymore […] Three weeks of vacation is not enough for players to play for 12 months at the highest level. If we never say anything, it will always be the same … UEFA has created yet another competition with the Conference League. They can be mad at teams that want a Super League but they don’t care about the players, they just care about their pockets

This Monday, the list of players selected to receive the trophy for best goalkeeper of the season, issued by FIFA, was unveiled. No trace of the Belgian goalkeeper Real Madrid. Alisson Becker, Gianluigi Donnarumma, Edouard Mendy, Manuel Neuer and Kasper Schmeichel are the five players selected. Which doesn’t really please Thibaut Courtois who said at a press conference on Tuesday: “I think I’m not nominated for The Best because of what I said a month ago. I won’t say more. “A very clear implication. And we must admit that it is surprising not to find Courtois in this list, he who has had a particularly successful season.
