This photograph would probably still be forgotten if it weren’t for Antonio Ríos appearing in a story by Doblehclothing (Instagram account of the cap brand of La Familia Michoacana). In said story, the mexican midfielder poses with a cap that has the Logo from “The strawberry”, José Alfredo Hurtado Olascoaga, leader of La Familia Michoana.

A fact that the journalist highlighted was birthplace of the number 15 of The Devils Reds. And it is that Ríos is originally from Arcelia, in the state of Guerrero, same place as “El Fresa”, leader of the cartel. In fact, the town is considered under the control of the criminal organization.

The footballer holds the recognition that every first division player can have, so his actions on and off the field are representative. Last weekend, Antonio received a tribute from the club for having completed 367 games with the first team and now stands out for his message promoting merchandise from a drug trafficking organization.

Oscar Balderas revealed the origin of this brand on October 18, 2021. The journalist summarized the event in a Twitter thread and reported that José Alfredo Hurtado, alias “El Fresa”, did a massive party in the town of Arcelia, Guerrero, his hometown. In this event, one of the most wanted criminals in Mexico took the opportunity to announce his incorporation into the textile market, with a brand of baseball caps.

His words are justified, as there is a reward of 500 thousand pesos for those who reveal information for the capture of “El Fresa.” However, the day he held a massive party in his municipality, no one betrayed him. On the contrary, people were happy to go to a party at their idol’s ejido.

One of the most ruthless criminals is adored for his wealth. The man who has blackmailed businesses in the region is adored for what he has “accomplished.” To continue his story, the journalist says that, according to the party attendees, the announcement generated a scream from the guests. That everyone present wanted that cap and that only a few got it for free, while the rest they lined up to buy it for a price of a thousand pesos.

That same cap, the one that caused a furor in a drug trafficking event and that represents one of the most dangerous criminal organizations, is the one that was used and presumed by the Toluca soccer player, Antonio Ríos.
