Adobe and Major League Baseball are planning a partnership that they believe will change the way fans experience the national pastime.
On Tuesday, Adobe and MLB announced plans for the sports league to roll out cloud services like the technology company’s Experience Cloud and Creative Cloud.
So why exactly should fans of MLB baseball care work with Adobe? Both companies say using Adobe software will help fans get more involved in the sport.
Possible ways MLB could leverage Adobe technology include notifications while the concession lines are moving the fastest, or loyalty programs that reward fans for watching baseball games or buying their team’s favorite gear.

“The Adobe platform gives us many fundamental capabilities to move us in this direction, so that we can understand who our customer is and develop a system that rewards that type of loyalty,” said Chris Marinak, chief operations and operations
Strategy Officer, during an interview with USA TODAY.
MLB is already experimenting with technology for fans at games with its Ballpark app. Users can hold digital tickets in the app, view street maps and food and drink cards, or take photos and videos with MLB camera lenses, similar to social media apps like Instagram or Snapchat.
The goal of the partnership is to help fans stay engaged, whether they’re at a game or watching from home. For example, if a fan’s favorite team is in town, they might receive a notification of the next game and access services like MLB.tv to watch from home if they wish.
“Expanding the partnership will enable MLB to deliver truly personalized experiences to fans, powered by millions of real-time fan profiles,” said Anil Chakravarthy, executive vice president and general manager, Adobe’s digital experience business and worldwide Field service, in a statement.
Marinak said MLB will adopt Adobe technology over time, with plans to introduce new experiences for fans starting next year and beyond.
“We’re aiming for a number of new skills for the start of next season, then we’ll gradually ramp up and do more over the course of the next season,” said Marinak.
