Showing great resilience, the Houston Astros won Game 5 of the World Series 9-5 against the Atlanta Braves on Sunday night at Truist Park.

The final series of the 2021 major league baseball campaign is now led 3-2 by the Georgia club.

In today’s matchup, the Astros took the lead with a three-run production in the fifth inning. The first point came when Martin Maldonado got a walk which put Carlos Correa at home plate. This created the tie 5 to 5.

Moments later, Marwin Gonzalez hit a single that saw two of his teammates trample the plate. The Astros then took the lead and didn’t look back after that.

The winners of this duel also added to their lead with singles from Maldonado and Correa, respectively in the seventh and eighth round.

Maldonado became the first player in major league baseball history to produce runs on a single, a sacrifice ball and a walk in a playoff match.

At the Braves, the game started strong. On the first period, Adam Duvall sent the ball out of bounds, while all the cushions were occupied by his teammates. Freddie Freeman also had a home run for Atlanta in the third inning.

The two teams will meet on Monday evening for the sixth game of the World Series. It returns to Houston, where the two clubs have separated the honors of the first two meetings.
