Swiss badminton

Swiss Badminton is the top national administrative organization in the field of badminton in Switzerland. The association was founded in 1954 as such Swiss Badminton Federation (SBF) and has an office in Ittigen. Meanwhile, there are about 15,000 licensed players participating in regional tournaments and interclub games.

history

The first international tournament in Switzerland was held in Lausanne in 1953, before the association was founded in May 1954. The association quickly became a member of the Badminton World Federation, then known as International Badminton Federation . In 1967, the SBF also became a founding member of the continental umbrella organization Badminton Europe, then still known as European Badminton Union . In 1955, both the national championships and the international championships started in Switzerland.
