Basketball Bundesliga club Skyliners Frankfurt has once again become active on the transfer market. Jamel McLean has signed a contract with Hessen until the end of the season. The club announced on Monday.

With the 33-year-old, the Hessians are bringing an experienced player into their young team, who will hopefully also polish up their rebound game. “He will be able to help us offensively and defensively, because in the one-on-one defense he is very solid, a good rebounder and overall just a very complete player on and off the ball,” said Sykliners coach Diego Ocampo with conviction.

Very familiar with the Bundesliga

McLean, who was most recently under contract with the Spanish Euro Cup participant Casademont Zaragoza, knows the Bundesliga very well, has already played in Bonn, in Berlin – where he was league MVP in the 2014/15 season – and last season in Ludwigsburg. The American will not need a long period of acclimatization.

A small question mark is still behind the fitness of the newcomer. McLean had injured his ankle in Zaragossa and was unable to train recently. The Skyliners let it be known that the injury had healed in the meantime and that the power forward “will start team training promptly”, but will he be ready for action after the international break? On December 5th, the people of Frankfurt receive the Crailsheim Merlins. By then, at the latest, there will be clarity.
