Serie A, Varese wins the second in a row: Derthona defeated 85-76

Second consecutive success for Varese Basketball which returns to victory within the friendly walls of Enerxenia Arena against Derthona Basket with the result of 85-76. Struggling with the absences of Egbunu, Wilson and Caruso, the red and white led a very high level match deserving the applause of an Enerxenia Arena that was hotter than ever. Coach Vertemati’s boys will return to the field on Sunday 5 December for the match against Pesaro (duo at 19:00).

Anthony Beane opens the match with a precise triple, followed closely by a jumper from Gentile who is worth the momentary 5-0 for the hosts. Macura unlocks his team who find the first advantage of the evening shortly after with Wright, reaffirmed by the bombs of an inspired Daum that force coach Vertemati to the first timeout of the evening. Upon returning to the field, Openjobmetis shortens to -2 (18-20) with Kell and then makes a double overtaking with Jones who, on 10 ‘, drags his team to 25-20.

The red and white also start the second fraction in gas with 7 consecutive points that are worth the temporary +12 (32-20). Derthona responds with Wright and shortens, but Varese still runs forward using the heavy shot, only to give in to the new break of the guests who, on 20 ‘, manage to reach -5 (43-38).

The start of the third quarter once again rewards Openjobmetis who places a partial 8-2 for the new +11 (51-40) which forces coach Ramondino to timeout. The break unlocks Derthona, but does not slow down the impetus of the Varese players who are able to keep the gap unchanged with Sorokas and then to widen it decidedly thanks to the triples of Gentile and De Nicolao who drag theirs on +17 (64-47), gap slightly different at 30 ‘: 66-52. The last 10 ‘of play begins with the red and white break which is worth +20 (72-52). Filloy plays the charge for his team who definitely return close to the hosts (83-76) thanks to a monstrous Sanders, but in the end it is Varese to celebrate thanks to the definitive 85-76.
