On the 12th, Okinawa’s first professional baseball team “Ryukyu Blue Oceans” was reported to be aiming to enter the Taiwan Professional Baseball (CPBL), and explained the current situation and circumstances in a document. The Ryukyu side’s view is as follows.
We would like to thank all of you for your understanding and cooperation in the activities of Ryukyu Blue Oceans (President of the team: Tomoya Kitagawa) in the midst of the Corona disaster.
First of all, we apologize for the inconvenience caused to the Chinese Professional Baseball League (CPBL) and its related parties.
At Ryukyu Blue Oceans, we were exploring the possibilities of professional baseball in Taiwan while exchanging opinions with various people, taking into consideration the distance to Okinawa and historical connections.
And at the briefing session in June of this year (2021), we announced that we will officially aim to enter the Taiwan Professional Baseball League. However, unfortunately, it was also a time when the number of patients was rapidly increasing due to the new corona virus, and although some media participated, it was hardly taken up.
Therefore, I hope you understand that aiming to enter the Taiwan Professional Baseball League is not a sudden idea for raising funds.
And, while interacting with CPBL, I am aware that the entry method we are considering may conflict with the current regulations. We recognize that there are two major points, but we think that we can solve the technical problem by devising one point, and we can not manage the remaining one point. I thought about it and consulted with people from all over the world. Regarding this one point, while it is a rule that cannot be accepted as it is, it is rude to ask for a revision of the rule, and I am aware that it is not possible to revise the rule suddenly, so from a big perspective. Based on the mutual merits of entering the market using the entry method we are thinking of, we are preparing to apply again with the support of public institutions.
Under such circumstances, in raising funds through crowdfunding this time, I have expressed that I am aiming to enter the Taiwan Professional Baseball League, and I should never say that it has been decided categorically. I hope you understand that we do not have it.
Ryukyu Blue Oceans will continue to make preparations to gain the understanding of CPBL and make every effort to make the entry into professional baseball in Taiwan a reality.
