Report: Packers lose tackle Elgton Jenkins for remainder of season

The Green Bay Packers lost in the last minute of their Week 11 engagement against the Minnesota Vikings, but that was not the only bad news since have lost versatile offensive lineman Elgton Jenkins for the remainder of the season with a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee.

According to the report of Adam Schefter, of ESPN, medical tests indicated the severity of the injury. The player left the game during the first minutes of the last quarter of the game against Minnesota.

The junior served as a starting left tackle for eight Green Bay Packers games. in the 2021 campaign in place of David Bakthiari, who suffered a Jenkins-like injury last year.

Mississippi State product was invited to Pro Bowl in 2020 season being one of the best guards in the National Conference and in 2019 he was part of the NFL All-Rookie team.

Variants on the line

With Jenkins and Bakthiari absent, the only left tackle available to protect quarterback Aaron Rodgers’ blind side is Young Nijman. Another option could be the substitute right tackle, Dennis Kelly.

Nijman, second-year player, he was already a starter this season in games against the San Francisco 49ers, the Pittbusrgh Steelers, and the Cincinnati Bengals. For his part, Kelly is a nine-year veteran who made all 16 regular-season games for the Tennessee Titans last year.
