Finally a feeling of normalcy again! After the two home games against TSG Hoffenheim and Benfica Lisbon were not sold out in spite of the abolition of capacity restrictions, the Allianz Arena was completely filled with 75,000 spectators for the home game against SC Freiburg on Saturday.

The reason for this was that the annual tickets were valid again for the game against the Breisgauer. In the two previous games, there were only day tickets.

The atmosphere in the arena was great. After the 2-1 victory, the Munich team finally go into the upcoming international break as leaders. In the meantime, however, two men are likely to have looked somewhat disgruntled from the official gallery into the south curve: President Herbert Hainer and CEO Oliver Kahn.

Bayern fans with poster: “For money we wash everything in”

The Bayern Ultras don’t forget. If that was not yet clear to the two Bayern bosses, they have known since this Saturday at the latest. Because the organized fan scene had a clear message to convey.

At the beginning of the second half, the Ultras unfolded a large protest banner in the south curve. “For money we wash everything clean,” was written on the banner.

Under the lettering, Kahn and Hainer could be seen next to a washing machine with the label “FCB AG” washing blood-smeared clothes. In Kahn’s left hand there was a suitcase full of money with the inscription “You can rely on us”.

FC Bayern and Qatar: Business has been controversial for years

The background: Bavaria’s business relationships with the Emirate of Qatar have been a thorn in the side of the Ultras for years. In the host country of the 2022 World Cup, the Munich professionals regularly complete their winter training camp. In addition, the Qatari airline Qatar Airways has been a major sponsor of Bavaria for several years.

Uli Hoeneß and Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, the predecessors of Kahn and Hainer, were repeatedly criticized by the Ultras for their highly controversial collaboration.

So far, there have been no concrete signs on the part of the association that the relationship is to be ended or at least reconsidered due to the human rights violations in Qatar. FC Bayern, on the other hand, has defended its commitment in the desert state many times. It was always said that changes could only be achieved through a dialogue with those in power on the ground.

Fans call on Bavaria to end cooperation with Qatar

The Ultras are not satisfied with that. Some of the Bayern fans have therefore recently submitted an application for the annual general meeting on November 25, in which the club is requested not to extend its cooperation with the emirate.

“We want to take preventive measures to prevent a new deal,” said initiator Michael Ott. Qatar stands for massive human rights violations, there are also serious allegations of corruption in sport, it said in a message from the critical supporters. By working with a state-owned company, FC Bayern is actively helping “to divert attention from the grievances” and “to spread a modern, cosmopolitan image of the country”.

One thing is clear: the issue will not resolve itself. As long as the club does not move in this discussion, the protests will continue. The Ultras don’t forget, Bayern have known that since this Saturday at the latest.

In a lively top game, FC Bayern prevailed against SC Freiburg. However, there are only a few stars who really convince – for example Leroy Sané and Alphonso Davies. And Dayot Upamecano falls away again. The AZ reporter’s notes from the stadium.

Christian Streich is shortly before his tenth anniversary as coach of SC Freiburg at the height of success and is going to FC Bayern Munich as an unbeaten third in the table. The 56-year-old is even considered a “figure of light” – but there is also strong criticism.
