“People are working so hard to look at Dury’s position and get rid of him”

Will Francky Dury’s monumental career at SV Zulte Waregem end in a minor way? Normally, the experienced trainer would say goodbye to the Rainbow Stadium at the end of this season, but due to the lackluster results, that could happen earlier than expected. Guillaume Maebe warns the Waregem board, however.

Things are looking particularly bleak for Dury. Zulte Waregem is only fifteenth, lost last Sunday with heavy 2-6 figures from KRC Genk and the supporters have been dissatisfied with the trainer for weeks now. Part of the public wants him to go early, despite his enormous track record. “People have worked so hard to look at Dury’s position and get rid of him,” Maebe also noted in The Sjotcast by The newspapaer.

“They think the problems will be gone if they get rid of Dury, without thinking about what will replace it,” the journalist further describes the “great danger” of Zulte Waregem. The board should therefore adjust its communication to appease the board. “‘This is now a transition year, but we are getting ready for that new start, after twenty years with the same person’. You have to work on that”, Maebe advises.

The rest of November will undoubtedly be crucial for Dury’s future. A move to KAS Eupen awaits next weekend, after the international break home games against KAA Gent and K. Beerschot VA will follow.
