Nikola Jokic’s nudge attack against Markieff Morris in the 113:96 victory of the Nuggets against the Miami Heat has now had its first consequences. The Serb was banned from a game and has to pay a fine.
The NBA announced its decision on the street size in an official statement. The reigning MVP will therefore not be available in the game of the Nuggets against the Pacers on Thursday night, furthermore he will not receive any payment for the mentioned game and will have to pay another 50,000 US dollar fine separately.
The reason for the measures was a tough foul by the Serb, who brought Morris down with a body check a few minutes before the end of the game. “It was a very dangerous and dirty move,” said heat coach Erik Spoelstra after the game. Previously, Morris fouled the Nuggets star with a sturdy elbow blow.
Morris ($ 50,000) and his teammate Jimmy Butler ($ 30,000) are also asked to pay, the former for the original foul on Jokic, the latter for provoking further arguments following the Jokic frenzy.
Confrontation between Marcus Morris and the Jokic brothers on social media
“He waited until my brother turned his back on him. It’s noted,” tweeted Markieff’s twin brother, Marcus Morris (LA Clippers), after the game. The answer from the Jokic brothers was not long in coming: “You should leave it at that instead of threatening our brother in public. Your brother took off an action first.”
The tweet also contained a warning to Morris. “If you want to go one step further, we will be waiting for you!”, Say the Jokic brothers Nemanja and Strahinja. Journalist Mike Singer (Denver Post) confirmed.
The two brothers of the Nuggets star have often been to games in the audience and have messed with players from time to time. According to media reports, the two are said to have already bought tickets for the next duel between the Nuggets and Heat. This will take place on November 30th.
