The American basketball championship made it official this Monday: the Texan franchise and its French genius will play not one, but two games in the capital next year, on January 23 and 25, 2025 against the Indiana Pacers.
San Antonio will play a match on French soil for the first time in almost twenty years, and a preseason match played in Paris in 2006. For their part, the Pacers have never played in France.
“I can confirm to you that the NBA will return to Paris for a new match in Paris 2025,” Adam Silver, the commissioner (president) of the NBA, told our columns in January. However, I can’t tell you which team will be present but, in my mind, I really want to bring one. A franchise has a really good chance of being there. His wish was therefore granted, and the franchise in question, the San Antonio Spurs of No. 1 in the last draft Victor Wembanyama, will be present. Until then, the gigantic Frenchman will undoubtedly have the opportunity to dazzle the French public at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
This will be the fourth edition of the NBA Paris Games. In January 2024, the Paris Games saw Cleveland and Brooklyn compete. The Detroit Pistons, Chicago Bulls, Charlotte Hornets and Milwaukee Bucks had previously set foot on the Parisian floors. In 2025 as in 2024, the match should be played at the Accor Arena.
