The Minnesota Timberwolves have been fined $ 250,000 by the NBA for violating league regulations regarding offseason training.
According to the league, the franchise violated the competition rule that prohibits teams from hosting or paying for training or group sessions outside of the team’s home market throughout the offseason.
The new owners of the Timberwolves, Marc Lore and Alex Rodríguez, organized a series of workouts in the city of Miami in early September, culminating in a dinner at Rodríguez’s home. These activities took place in the final days of Gersson Rosas’ tenure as the team’s president of operations.
Given that Lore and Rodriguez bought the Timberwolves for $ 1.5 billion, a $ 250,000 fine will not be a worrisome outlay. Still, this sanction should push the duo to pay more attention to NBA internal regulations from now on.
