Motorcycle racer Valentino Rossi ends career with 10th place…

Italian motorcycle racer Valentino Rossi has finished tenth in the MotoGP of Valencia. It was the very last professional race for Rossi, who is ending his career in MotoGP after nine world titles. The victory went to his compatriot Francesco Bagnaia.

Bagnaia on his Ducati proved to be the fastest for the fourth time in the past six MotoGP races. The young Spaniard Jorge Martin had nevertheless started well from pole position, but had to give way to Bagnaia with 13 laps from the end. Australian Jack Miller came in third, ahead of 2020 World Champion Spaniard Joan Mir and France World Champion Fabio Quartararo.

Living legend Valentino Rossi drives his last race

With tenth place in Valencia – his 432nd Grand Prix (across all categories) – Rossi finishes the season eighteenth in the World Cup standings, his least result in 26 years at world level. His last world title was in 2009, his last GP victory in 2017. Rossi leaves the active sport with an unparalleled record in the premier class. Since his debut in 2001, he has won seven championships, 89 races and 199 podium finishes.

Valentino ‘the doctor’ Rossi, 42 meanwhile, is now said to be considering a switch to motor racing.
