Marc Wilmots appointed coach! (official)

It was in the pipes, it’s now official! After two years of unemployment, Marc Wilmots resumed service on Thursday by being officially appointed coach of Raja Casablanca. The short-lived coach of Côte d’Ivoire (2017) has signed up for two and a half years and will live his second experience in Africa, the first in a club.

Former coach of Belgium and Iran, the Belgian succeeds Tunisian Lassaad Chabbi, winner in recent months with RCA of the Confederation Cup (African equivalent of the Europa League) and the Arab Club Cup champions but sacked Tuesday due to a mixed start in the league.

After the draw last Saturday in the Casablanca derby (1-1), Raja is 2e and ahead of 5 points after 10 days by his rival Wydad at the head of Botola. Big media stunt, the 52-year-old technician will quickly have to live up to his reputation in terms of results, otherwise he will experience a similar fate in this legendary club where the pressure is daily.
