Mandalika WSBK FP2 Results: Toprak Pressed by Rea

Jakarta, CNN Indonesia —

Yamaha Pata Racers, Toprak Razgatlioglu, under pressure from his closest rivals, Jonathan Rea, although still the fastest in the second free practice (FP2) WSBK Mandalika 2021, Friday (19/11).

Toprak is still the best in FP2 with a time of 1 minute 34.230 seconds. The Turkish racer was only able to improve slightly his time in FP1, which was 1 minute 34.985 seconds.

On the other hand, Rea who slumped in FP1, was able to sprint in FP2. The Kawasaki racer carved a time of 1 minute 34.404 seconds or only 0.174 seconds adrift of Toprak’s record time.

Rea managed to improve the record time to 2.982 seconds from his time in FP1. The result also puts tremendous pressure on Toprak ahead of the three WSBK Mandalika races, Saturday-Sunday.

GRT Yamaha racer, Garrett Gerloff, was in third position. The racer who had become a teammate of Valentino Rossi in MotoGP was only 0.225 seconds adrift of Toprak.

Then there are Alvaro Bautista, Scott Redding, Leon Haslam, and Alex Lowes who were in second place in FP1. Dutch racer of Indonesian descent, Michael van der Mark, was in ninth position 0.708 seconds adrift of Toprak.

WSBK Mandalika 2021 will continue with the qualifying round on Saturday (20/11) morning and followed by Race 1 on Saturday afternoon.

Toprak entered WSBK Mandalika which is the last series of WSBK 2021 with a 30-point advantage over Rea. In total there are 62 points up for grabs in the WSBK Mandalika.
