Liverpool arrested by Brighton, Klopp called this mistake

Liverpool failed to maintain their lead until they were held to a draw by Brighton & Hove Albion. The result is considered not to be separated from the mistakes of Jurgen Klopp.

Liverpool were matched by Brighton & Hove Albion 2-2 at Anfield, Saturday (30/10/2021) last night WIB. Already two goals ahead in the 24th minute through Jordan Henderson and Sadio Mane, ‘The Reds’ were conceded by Enock Mwepu and Leandro Trossard.

Brighton really troubled Liverpool in the second half. But Klopp was considered too late to react because he only entered Diogo Jota in the 78th minute to replace Roberto Firmino.

It was Liverpool’s second substitution, with Alex-Oxlade Chamberlain coming on in the 19th minute for the injured Naby Keita. Meanwhile, Takumi Minamino came on in the 87th minute for Curtis Jones.

Former Liverpool striker Stan Collymore said Klopp was late in bringing in Jota. Jota practically didn’t have enough time to make an impact.

“I think Diogo Jota should have come on in the 60-65 minute, and not wait until the 78th minute. Sometimes making small changes a bit early, it’s important to force the opponent to make a decision,” he said. Liverpool Echo.

“Liverpool have no problem with their strikers scoring goals, but I always feel the best time to make a substitution, in terms of coming on and making an impact in the game, is in the 60-65 minute.”

“In the 60th minute, you give someone a half hour plus. In the 65th minute, you usually see someone warm up to come in and make an impact. The 78th minute may demand too much from the players,” added Collymore.
