Legendary Rosi bids farewell to tenth place in the final leg of the season, MotoGP

Before the final stage, there was no intrigue in the MotoGP class – the champion title had already been secured by the Frenchman Fabio Quartararo (“Monster Energy Yamaha”), but the winners of the Constructors’ Cup were secured by the manufacturers of “Ducati” vehicles.

Until the 15th round of the competition, the Spaniard Jorge Martins (“Pramac”) took the lead, but then the leader was the Italian Francesco Banjaja (“Ducati Lenovo”), who won. Martin finished second, while Jack Miller from Australia won the first three.

This was followed by last year’s champion Hoan Mirs (“Suzuki Ecstar”), the fifth was Quartararo, and Joan Zarko (“Pramac”) finished in the top six.

Rosi (“Petronas Yamaha”) finished tenth in his farewell race. After the finish, the Italian greeted his rivals, but later Rosi held a circle of honor, which was accompanied by fireworks in honor of the legend of the highway.

Rosi’s career began in 1996 and ended at the age of 42, with 432 races. He is a nine-time world champion.

Valentino, the son of motorcyclist Graciano Rosos, spent his first season in 1996 in the 125cc class with Aprilia. The following season, he won the title of champion, then moved to the 250cc class, where he won in 1999 with Aprilia.

In the 500cc format, Rosi first won second place in her first season in 2000, a season later with the world title of Honda.

In this class, already named “MotoGP”, Rosi added six more championship titles in 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2008 and 2009, the first with “Honda”, the rest – with “Yamaha”.

But recently, the biggest star of “MotoGP” became the Spanish Mark Marks, who won the title of world champion in 2013, 2014, 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019.

Rosi’s last victory in the competition dates back to the 2017 Dutch Grand Prix, his last pole position in 2018 and his last podium in 2019.

In last year’s overall standings, he took 15th place, an unprecedented event for a rider who had not finished in the top ten since his debut in 1996.

Downgraded to the Yamaha-SRT team, the Japanese manufacturer’s satellite team, he finished the season in 18th place.
