The world has been worried about tennis star Peng Shuai (35) for weeks! Shuai had accused the former Vice Prime Minister of China Zhang Gaoli (75) of raping her – since that bold move she was missing.
The Chinese propaganda newspaper “Global Times” has now published a video that shows Peng how she opened a tennis tournament for children in Beijing on Sunday. The mini-clip shared on Twitter shows how Peng signs oversized tennis balls with a smile.
The tennis star does not comment on her state of health. Instead, she poses for a photo with the young players.
► Noticeable: In the photo, the date of the opening ceremony, November 21, is clearly visible next to Peng’s head. Whether the recordings are really from Sunday, as the Chinese propaganda claims, cannot yet be verified. The tournament sponsor Fila has not yet answered a corresponding BILD request.

Even if Peng is supposed to have really opened the tournament on Sunday, it is completely unclear what happened to her before and after the filming. Chinese propaganda has been trying to brush aside worries since Friday that the tennis star could be in danger because of his serious allegations against a top politician of the regime. First with photos that are supposed to show Peng at home, then on Saturday with a video in which she allegedly visits a restaurant with her trainer.
Steve Simon, head of the international women’s tennis organization WTA, was not convinced: “This video alone is not enough,” he said. Because: “While it is positive to see her, it remains unclear whether she is free and can make her own decisions.” It is not clear whether she can act without coercion. He continues to worry about their health and safety and that their sexual assault allegations are obviously being censored, Simon said. Because of the affair, the WTA threatens to withdraw the tennis tour completely from China.
Top politicians are said to have forced Peng to have sex
Peng’s rape allegations against Zhang Gaoli hit the communist regime deeply. Because from 2013 to 2018, Zhang held one of the highest-ranking posts in the country as Vice Prime Minister. According to the tennis star, Peng and Zhang had a relationship more than ten years ago. Shortly before the politician was appointed head of government, the relationship broke off.
Only after his retirement is Zhang said to have invited the tennis star into his house and forced Peng to have sex there. On the Chinese social media platform Weibo, Peng wrote: “Why did you have to come back to me, take me to your house and force me to have sex there?”
Thirty minutes after she published her allegations, censors made the post disappear and a little later Peng was gone too.
