In the 1B Pro League, Deinze missed the chance to only become second. Deinze had to make peace at home with a 3-3 draw against Lommel.
After the defeat of Waasland-Beveren and Lierse, Deinze had the chance to move to 2nd place in the standings, behind the unapproachable Westerlo. The home team had to beat Lommel for that.
That scenario seemed in the making when Deinze was already 3-1 after half an hour, thanks to three goals from Lennart Mertens. In between, Thordarson chided the visitors.
But Deinze handed over that bonus after the break. Lommel striker Arthur Sales scored another point for the visitors with two goals. Not much changes in the standings that way, leader Westerlo is once again the winner of the weekend.
