An accidental fire completely destroyed a family home in Calvi. Shocked but unharmed, an elderly person was evacuated by firefighter ambulance to the Calvi hospital.
It was around 4.30 p.m. this Sunday when the firefighters of the Calvi CIS, headed by Lieutenant Jean-Jacques Vigneau, responded to a fire in a family house located on the road to Pietramaggiore, municipality of Calvi.
Faced with the virulence of the flames, the help of the Ile-Rousse firefighters was called in.
When they arrived, firefighters found an elderly lady in shock. The latter, Ms. Azzopardi was evacuated by firefighters to the Calvi-Balagne Hospital, not without first stating that she was the one who accidentally set fire to the curtains of the house.
Distraught, shocked, she was comforted.
Despite the rapidity of the firefighters’ intervention, the damage was very significant. It was Lieutenant Aldobrandi who was at the head of the column ensuring the complete extinction of the fire and the clearing.
