Hansen and Laporta, co-leaders, walk past Rozner in Dubai

Despite a thunderous start during the “moving day”, the Frenchman gave up the leadership to the Danish and the Italian for a small blow at the end of the third round.

This Sunday, Antoine Rozner (28) will try to keep the Dubai Championship trophy won in December 2020 on the Fire course of the Jumeirah Golf Estate. While defending for the first time a title acquired on the European Tour, the Frenchman (123rd in the world) offered himself this opportunity at the end of a “moving day” made up of ups and downs.

Leader (-15) after two laps, accompanied by the Italian Laporta and the Danish Hansen in the last part, Rozner started with a bang the 3rd lap thanks to a birdie on hole n ° 1 then a par at n ° 2. He had already passed -16 in total before hole 3, when he slammed a magnificent wedge into the box less than a hundred yards away. An eagle that allowed him to go to -18 in total, the only leader.

The rest was to prove to be more complicated, however. From hole n ° 5, a double bogey after a scratched chip brought the Racingman (-16) back to reality. His bogey from hole 12 pushed Antoine Rozner to end his day with a 69 card, thanks to his eagle but also his four birdies of the day, the last of which was successful on hole 18.

During the 4th and last lap, Antoine Rozner will find in the last part the Dane Joachim Hansen and the Italian Francesco Laporta who passed him in front, now co-leaders at -19 in total. Among the French, Mike Lorenzo-Vera is credited with the best tricolor card (66) of the day, which allows him to gain 22 places. The Basque (-13) needs to finish on the podium to hope to keep his European Tour card next year. He is in 16th position.

Romain Langasque, Matthieu Pavon, Julien Guerrier and Robin Roussel, all at -11, are tied for 33rd place while Victor Perez is 52nd (-8), ahead of Joël Stalter (69th, -2).

Ranking of the Dubai Championship after three rounds (par 72):

  1. Joachim B. Hansen (Dan.); Francesco Laporta (Italy) -19
  2. Antoine Rozner (France) -18 … etc.
