Great premiere. Macháč defeated Gasquet and the Czechs lead 1-0 in the Davis Cup over France

The Czech tennis players lead 1: 0 in matches in the Davis Cup over France. The first point was won by the debutant in the salad competition Tomáš Macháč, who surprisingly managed 7: 6, 6: 2 with the former world number seven Richard Gasquet in Innsbruck.

Macháč’s match with Gasquet began with a marathon game in which the Czech tennis player lost 0:40, but eventually retained the serve. In the third game, although he lost the service due to inaccuracies due to inaccuracies, he immediately received Gasquet’s serve in the same way. Since then, the 21-year-old Macháč has held the service more confidently and won the tie-break 7: 3 thanks to more courage and, for example, a lunge to the net with a happy volley.

“I was excited to be able to play and I am very happy that I made my debut. I showed my heart,” Macháč said on the court. “The first game was very important, I was very nervous, but I fought for every ball. Gradually I played and in the second set it was better.”

The third group in group C is the British, with whom the Czechs will play on Sunday and France the day before. The winners of the six groups, which also play in Turin and Madrid, and the two best teams from second places will advance to the quarterfinals.
