Great Britain – Germany 1: 2, German tennis players will play the Davis Cup semifinals after fourteen years

Although Peter Gojowczyk lost 2: 6 and 1: 6 to Daniel Evans in the opening singles, the German team managed to turn the score around. The equalization was taken care of by Jan-Lennard Struff, who defeated Cameron Norrie’s world twelve 7: 6, 3: 6 and 6: 2.

The decisive point was then added by Krawietz and Pütz in doubles. They won the first set over Joe Salisbury and Neal Skupski after averting five 12:10 sets in a tie-break. In the shortened game of the second set, they lost 0: 5, but then they decided to advance seven points in a row.

The Germans, who had to do without the world’s third player Alexander Zverev, retaliated against Great Britain from the Davis Cup quarterfinals in 2019. In Saturday’s semifinals in Madrid, they will face the best of the Russia-Sweden duo.
