Course for the NRW ID management team

The Disabled and Rehabilitation Sports Association of North Rhine-Westphalia (BRSNW) conducted a three-day course for its judo cadre athletes at the Hennef sports school. This measure was originally planned as a preparatory course for the German team championship planned for November 20 in Wiesbaden. However, since the championship in Wiesbaden was canceled due to Corona, the BRSNW decided to use the course as a restart of ID judo after an almost two-year pandemic break. State trainer Frank Schuhknecht and department head Dr. Wolfgang Janko welcomed a total of 30 participants, including 23 ID judokas, to the Hennef sports school.

In addition to conditioning and coordination training, the extensive course program particularly focused on technical training. Various games, Randoris with different tasks and necessary relaxation exercises rounded off the course program. The ID judokas also used the well-equipped weight room in the sports school. The mood among the ID judokas was once again very good. Everyone tried to fulfill the tasks set and managed to hold out until the end of the course.

National coach Frank Schuhknecht was delighted with the surprisingly good training condition of his squad athletes and regretted all the more that the planned German team championship was canceled, perhaps a little prematurely. After the intensive course, the prerequisites for a successful title defense of the NRW athletes seemed to be in place.

Now we hope that the ID judo competitions can finally restart in January 2022 with the national team championships in Dülmen and that the fourth corona wave does not lead to a complete standstill of ID judo again.
