Friggeri and the late Advance in the Brescello Allievi 1976 team

We thank Mr. Masola Giuliano for sending us this wonderful baseball souvenir.

It was back in 1976 and in Brescello, as well as in Poviglio, baseball was already being played and the Gazzetta di Parma highlighted it.

The article is dated 9 December 1976 and is also very interesting for our association because in the line-up depicted there are two characters, then respectively fourteen and thirteen, who subsequently will really make the fortune of our Poviglio Baseball too.

These are the late Davide “Jack” Avanzini (athlete, technician and vice president of Poviglio for several years and unfortunately died prematurely in 2015) and Stefano Friggeri (in turn athlete, technician and even President for 17 years and still part of the group management in a very active way).

Even the aforementioned coach Mauro Cantoni, who unfortunately also already died, after the dissolution of Brescello was part of the management team of Poviglio Baseball in the 90s.

Unfortunately, the graphic quality of the yellowed print since almost half a century has passed and the shadow of the hat projected on the face of both Advance and Friggeri does not allow us to appreciate their youthful features.

This article and what has just been told confirm once more that “baseball can be a commercial for life”. Long live Baseball!
