France-Kazakhstan: Benzema holder, Coman and Pavard in balance as right piston

The Blues carried out their last training this Friday at the end of the afternoon at the Parc des Princes, theater of Saturday’s match (8:45 p.m.) between France and Kazakhstan decisive for the direct ticket to the World Cup 2022 in Qatar. After a warm-up in the center of the field, the players of the France team worked tactically and made an opposition.

The whole group was present including Karim Benzema who participated on this occasion in his first collective session of the week after having preserved himself due to muscle fatigue. The Real Madrid striker will start in attack alongside Kylian Mbappé and Antoine Griezmann. In the three-way defense, Dayot Upamecano will be accompanied by Jules Koundé on the right and Lucas Hernandez on the left. The pair of defensive midfielders will consist of N’Golo Kanté and Adrien Rabiot.

The uncertainty concerns the right piston position. If Theo Hernandez will start on the left as in the last three games of the Blues, the coach is with two options on the right: Benjamin Pavard or Kingsley Coman. The two Bayern Munich players have a different profile with the first more defensive and the second more attacking. The Habs first worked with Pavard in the right piston before Coman took his place during the tactical set-up.

During the press conference, Didier Deschamps replied on the possibility of starting Coman at the right piston station. “It can be an option at the start or during the game. We are supposed to have the ball more than the opponent. This requires defensive arrangements on the coverage of the zones. At the end of the training which lasted a little over an hour, Didier Deschamps conversed for several minutes with Kingsley Coman at the edge of the field. A sign ?
