In the middle of the game Sergio Aguero had gasped for air, the heart was no longer beating in a healthy rhythm. New medical findings are now available that could force the FC Barcelona striker to make a bitter decision.
SErgio Agüero, the star striker of FC Barcelona, is threatened with an involuntary end of his career because of his heart problems, according to media reports. A few weeks ago the Argentine collapsed on the lawn.
Now the doctors are said to have told the 33-year-old professional that the cardiac arrhythmias found in him are malignant, reported the Catalan radio station “Catalunya Ràdio” on Friday.
Other Spanish media reported the news, citing information from club circles. The health problems identified after previous investigations are incompatible with professional football, it said.
At the end of October, Agüero suddenly collapsed in the 40th minute of FC Barcelona’s league game against Deportivo Alavés at home in Camp Nou. He grabbed his chest and gasped for breath, his eyes contorted with fear. So far it had been said that the attacker would be absent for at least three months because of the necessary therapy.
Similar case in Barcelona’s women’s team
After ten successful years at Manchester City, Agüero only moved to Barcelona in the summer. He was an idol among fans of the “Citizens”, scoring 184 times in 275 competitive games. The striker, who played for Independiente in Buenos Aires at the beginning of his career and then for Atlético Madrid in Spain, also made 101 international appearances for Argentina, scoring 42 goals.
According to media reports, the club of the German national goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen wants to bring the Spanish national player Dani Olmo from RB Leipzig to Barcelona as a replacement for Agüero in winter.
Barcelona currently has a similar case to Aguero’s in the women’s team. However, the Norwegian national player Caroline Graham Hansen, 26, who was chasing goals in Germany for VfL Wolfsburg between 2014 and 2019, was suffering from benign cardiac arrhythmias, “Catalunya Ràdio” reported.
