Several Formula 1 teams are still waiting for the arrival of important parts due to delayed cargo planes. Six teams are said to not even have chassis in Brazil yet.

UPDATE 4:11 PM: The delayed cargo has now arrived in Brazil and is on its way to the circuit at the time of writing. The teams will have to work through the night to get everything ready on time, but otherwise no problems are expected.

Formula 1 is in the midst of an intense triple header. Where last weekend was raced in Mexico, it is Brazil’s turn this weekend. However, the delay of a number of cargo planes causes a number of difficulties, it was announced last Wednesday. The planes would be stuck in Miami, leaving several teams still waiting for parts or even the entire chassis.

The exact state of affairs is unknown, but several people present in the paddock have since provided an update. For example, Formula 1 photographer Mark Sutton says via Instagram that no fewer than six teams do not yet have a chassis on site. Red Bull Racing and Mercedes would have their carriages in the garage by now, but none of the teams would have an engine yet. The cargo will arrive at the track sometime today.

Curfew lifted

BBC reporter Jennie Glow has tweeted that McLaren and Ferrari will be hit hardest by the missing parts. Formula 1 has also lifted the curfew for mechanics tonight. This means that once the cargo arrives at the track, teams will be allowed to work through the night to get everything ready in time for Friday’s free practice sessions. Formula 1 already announced on Wednesday that these problems should not have an impact on the timetable this weekend.
