The Cali 2021 Pan American Youth Games began with the opening events, held last night at the Pascual Guerrero Olympic Stadium and today 67 Costa Rican athletes will look for the best places. We debuted in nine disciplines.
They end on December 5 and more than 3,800 athletes from 41 countries will participate in 39 sports disciplines. Those who achieve gold seal their ticket to the Pan American Games in Santiago 2023.
We start with judo. Melanie Esquivel will face Kiara Arango from Peru. In the 48 kilogram category, Amaya Pérez will collide with Kassandra Espinoza from Mexico.
In swimming will be Juan José Bolaños and Daniela Alfaro. In gymnastics Luis Zamora, Ariel Villalobos, Andrés Girón and Andrés Villegas, while in female and male badminton Ana Laura Martínez and Johan Jiménez will perform.
In judo, Melanie Esquivel and Amaya Pérez start in taekwondo Neshy Lee Lindo, Kalep Méndez and María José Calderón, Carmaicol Soto and Alexa Chaves in BMX, Álvaro Campos in triathlon, Paula Morales, Carlos Rodríguez and Ian Horsburgh in archery; while in weightlifting will be Andrés Peralta.
