Bulls 96 or Warriors 2017? Scottie Pippen creates controversy!

Nathaniel S. Butler / Glenn James

Considered two of the best teams in NBA history, the 1996 Bulls and the 2017 Warriors are the subject of a big debate over a hypothetical series between them. Scottie Pippen rightly mentioned it in his book, and shocked via his opinion!

With it, no need for flashy promotions, or billboards on every street corner. History of boosting the sales of his new book, Unguarded, Scottie Pippen has found a recipe much more economical, and devilishly more effective. He thus multiplies controversial media outings, especially on the long-standing debates that divide the NBA community.

Pippen tied with Kevin Durant

The legendary Bulls winger does not elude any subject in his book. Not even that of the GOAT, in which he unashamedly brings Michael Jordan closer to LeBron James. Another heated and endless discussion that fans love: the best team in history. Directly involved in the latter, since a member of the Bulls ’96, Pip ‘evokes the fictitious duel between his former franchise and the 2017 Warriors, with a comparison that makes people talk!

This is also true for the two dynasties that emerged later: the Los Angeles Lakers of the early 2000s, and the Golden State Warriors of the later years. I will always favor our roster over that of the Warriors – especially our teams from the second three-peat. We can review the different matchups.

Dennis Rodman or Draymond Green as a strong winger? Dennis
Luc Longley ou Andrew Bogut / JaVale McGee en pivot ? Luc.
Michael Jordan or Klay Thompson in the back? Michael.
Me or Kevin Durant on the wing? Both answers are valid.
The only matchup clearly in Golden State’s favor would be Steph Curry against Ron Harper in the lead.

In his mind, Pippen could therefore hold onto Kevin Durant, and gain the upper hand in a possible series. An assertion that is hardly surprising, since former number 33 recently admitted to considering himself as a great player as Jordan. Most fans do not hear it that way, however, and believe that KD would display a clear advantage over his opponent.

Regardless of his belief in the superiority of his Bulls, Scottie makes a final argument, which he believes would make Chicago’s victory inevitable.

One more thing: The Warriors had no one on their bench as talented as Toni Kukoc.
Prediction: Bulls in six. (The series couldn’t end in seven games. After all, we never played Game 7 in the Finals.)

After putting up with Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen looks as good as Kevin Durant. Certainly a less daring statement, but one that still deserves strong criticism!
