Two of the most representative Baracaldean sports organizations have created the ‘Hemezortzi’ project to grow together and “not make war each one on their own”

On Friday of last week, the social networks of Barakaldo CF and ZEV Zuazo surprised with the announcement of a joint project. Both joined forces to create a platform called ‘Hemezortzi’ that aims to promote sport in the municipality. EL CORREO has met with the presidents of both entities so that they can reveal the general lines of this initiative. Jesús María Isusi and Aingeru Astorkiza point out that the creation of ‘Hemezortzi’ seeks for the Baracaldese clubs to become more rooted in the social mass of the city, carrying out acts that would be impossible for them alone. “We want to make the union our strength, not each one to make war on their own,” they emphasize.

Barakaldo CF and ZEV Zuazo are two of the most representative sports entities in the municipality. The first of them is a centenary club, recognized throughout the state and with a stadium to accommodate 8,000 spectators. The second has its first team in the highest category of women’s handball and has even been classified for European competitions. Play your games at the Lasesarre Sports Center, with capacity for 2,800 people. However, the average occupancy of their respective stands is around fifteen percent. A very low percentage considering that Barakaldo has a population of approximately 100,000 inhabitants.

“It is incredible that in a town of 100,000 people not even a thousand come close to the sports center, being in the elite”, exclaims Aingeru Astorkiza. It is not even one percent of the population. Obviously, this is a two-part thing. That is why the two clubs have decided to jointly create the ‘Hemezortzi’ project. They have done it together because “together we can do many more things”, argues Jesús María Isusi. “We are a people and, if we do not defend ourselves, no one is going to do it,” the president of Barakaldo CF points out. The objective of its creation is to spread more around the population. “The success of sports clubs is the success of Barakaldo, we are the flag of our municipality,” indicate the leaders.

How are they going to penetrate the Baracaldesa society more? Sharing spaces and carrying out joint activities throughout the fabric of the municipality to be seen and that people feel part of these clubs. Everything related to promoting the practice of sport, especially in the youngest. In this sense, they have already got to work in several ways. Both sell their material at the Kiosko de Inguralde and have organized the campuses together. His name will be Bider -multiply-. They also insist that “this is just the beginning.” They have several ideas in mind, such as placing a txozna at Barakaldo parties or creating vouchers to attend the meetings of the two teams, for example.

Open doors

Still, this is not a closed project between Barakaldo CF and ZEV Zuazo. They have originated it, but they open their doors to all Baracaldese sports clubs. In fact, its intention is “to create a brand that brings together all of Baracaldés sport.” May the union be strength. “Everyone has their area, but there are always points in common,” says Aingeru Astorkiza. Of course, he insists that everyone who is part of Hemezortzi “comes to contribute and work.” In this sense, they hope to have clubs from different disciplines soon. As indicated by the presidents, one that is inclined to subscribe to this initiative is Barakaldo’s Ausarta, whose first women’s basketball team plays in the third tier at the national level.
