ATP> The endless toilet breaks, it’s over!

These famous toilet breaks have been controversial this season.

The problem took on a special dimension when Alexander Zverev accused Stefanos Tsitsipas of cheating in Cincinnati, when the Greek was taking a long time to return. Andy Murray also expressed his anger later at the US Open. The exits from the court of Novak Djokovic, led by two sets at Roland Garros against Lorenzo Musetti and against Stefanos Tsitsipas, had also caused much discussion.

The ATP has decided to react for the 2022 season! The Team has obtained a document sent to the players. Three major measures have been taken to prevent players from breaking the rhythm or the dynamics of the opponent. Medical downtime is therefore also concerned.

Only one toilet break will be allowed per match, at the end of a set. And it will be limited to three minutes! Two additional minutes are accepted for a change of outfit, in addition to this famous “break”.

A three-minute medical time-out, to be taken only at the change of sides or at the end of the set, will soon be the norm. If the player cannot wait, he will lose the current game. The date of entry into force of this measure has not yet been recorded.

ATP hits hard, with decisions that should make many more happy than unhappy, especially for tennis fans.
