ATP Finals – Steve Darcis was honored during the Masters

Steve Darcis went up Thursday evening on the court of the Pala Alpitour, theater of the Masters at the end of the season. The 37-year-old from Liege, who has not played since January 2020, was honored as a young retiree by Andrea Gaudenzi, the president of the ATP, men’s professional tennis circuit.

Former 38th in the world, ranking reached in May 2017, Darcis has two titles to his list, acquired in Amersfoort (2007) and Memphis (2008). Known and recognized for his creative play and Davis Cup performances, the ‘Shark’ looked back on the best moments of his career.

I will particularly remember my two Davis Cup finals, my two titles as well as my victory against Rafael Nadal (in the first round of Wimbledon 2013, editor’s note). I will never forget those moments“Mr. Davis Cup” told ATP.

Besides Darcis, ATP honored the Serbian Victor Troicki, Slovak Martin Klizan, Italian Paolo Lorenzi and the Austrian Julian Knowle, doubles specialist.
