The Antofagasta region is the absolute monarch of basketball at the Trasandina Youth Sports Games, Judejut Chile 2021. The three-time championship won by the ladies last weekend is now joined by the victory achieved by the men, who after a tight duel they donned the two-time championship crown after defeating Coquimbo’s representatives by 80-74.
Ratifying the good performance exhibited in the Judejut 2019, those led by DT Nelson Briones demonstrated that Antofagasta continues to be a basket-ball powerhouse, a fact that was evident in each of its matches; They defeated Tarapacá 78 to 49, Arica and Parinacota 79 to 40, while the pass to the definition was achieved after comfortably winning the #Atacama team by 82 to 43.
The team’s technical director, Nelson Briones pointed out that as a team “we are happy, because we have worked for years, I think we were the best throughout the championship, we were the best defense, the most united, more concentrated team and that worked more professional. Thank the IND, the families and the support they give us to the coaching staff. I am also grateful to each of the boys who individually performed very well and today we were able to close the game at the end and it showed with the result ”.
The captain of the team, Peterson Alday, assured that “we prepared for two full months and thank God it paid off, the game was super intense but we managed to get ahead and as a team we are very happy for this two-time championship.”
Regarding this result, the Seremi del Deporte, Roberto Meza, specified that “it is a merit of the great work that the players, the coaches, the team in general and their families have done. It is a reward for effort, discipline and perseverance for having continued training in a pandemic ”.
For her part, the IND Regional Director, Nellie Miranda Eldan, along with congratulating the players, thanked the effort of “all the clubs that work in training basketball in the Antofagasta region, the work of the delegate Juan Cabrera and the coach Nelson Briones, who have had an outstanding performance in the Judejut Chile 2021 ”.
