Afrobasket Kigali 2021: the FGBB expresses its gratitude to the Compagnie des Bauxites de Guinée “CBG” | Africa Guinea

CONAKRY- The Guinean Basketball Federation (FGBB) expressed this Wednesday, November 17, 2021, all its gratitude to the Compagnie des Bauxites de Guinée (CBG), official sponsor of Sily Basket during the Afrobasket 2021 played in October last in Rwanda.

In favor of a press conference organized today at the Sports Palace of the 28 September stadium, the Guinean basketball federation praised the efforts of the Compagnie des Bauxites de Guinée (CBG) for the support it has given to the Guinea’s national basketball team during the Kigali tournament last October. Thanks to this support, Guinea after trying six years of absence in this competition, came out with their heads held high, ranked 8th. The president of the Guinean Basketball Federation (FGBB) did not miss the opportunity to magnify the assistance of the CBG in this competition.

“ It was a great pride for us to wear the colors of the CBG in Afro-basketball, because the CBG is for us today, one of the best successes. I take advantage of your microphone to thank its Director General, Mr. Souleymane Traoré, who did not hesitate for a single moment with his collaborators, to support Basketball. And, the Basket Ball also did not fail to return the lift to him since we had an excellent result in Kigali ”, said Sakoba Keita.

Display the ambition to make basketball the biggest sporting discipline in the country, President of the Guinean Basketball Federation (FGBB) asked other mining companies to follow suit with the CBG.

« We hope to have other accompaniments in the future, to be able to continue to propagate this dream. The idea for us is to make basketball, the largest sports community in Guinea. It’s a challenge and a fight for us, we would like to play basketball in the right conditions, whether in the forest, near Labé, Mamou or Kindia and Boké where we have a lot of mining companies. Thank God the pandemic is receding, we will take the opportunity to relaunch basketball, especially in 2022. We want to go around Guinea. We were proud to wear the colors of the CBG, we hope that other companies will come into the sport because, in addition to the support, this will make it possible to strengthen the bonds of fraternity between Guineans, because sport is a sector that unites Guineans today ”, welcomed Sakoba Keita.

Touched by this message of recognition, Amadou Diouldé Camara, Communication and Public Relations Superintendent of the CBG, indicated that it is a patriotic duty accomplished to accompany syli basketball in this African tournament.

The recipe for this collaboration with the FGBB is the feeling of an accomplished patriotic duty to have accompanied the Syli Basket to Kigali. Which team had a performance that goes down in the annals of history. Because going to beat the tenors of African basketball like Egypt and then Rwanda on their own facilities, in front of their president and his audience, that’s all we Guineans were looking for ”, underlined Mr. Camara.

The contribution of the CBG-established in Guinea since 1963- in the development of the country is considerable. Its contribution to the revenue of the Guinean State is US $ 5.2 billion. 65 million US dollar go to neighboring local communities for its operations. This mining company has invested in schools, health posts, roads, water, electricity. Today, modesty put aside, it claims to be the most Guinean mining company in Guinea.

“We at CBG say that we are the most Guinean mining company in Guinea. Because 90% of our employees are Guineans and 100% of the employees in our operations are also Guineans. The Director General, moreover, has been Guinean for more than 10 years. Better, more than 50% of our shares are held by Guinea and more than 65% of our dividends go to the Guinean State. It is therefore a pride to have accompanied the Syli Basket of Guinea to Kigali ”, unrolled Amadou Diouldé Camara, communication and public relations superintendent of the CBG.
